if I were to buy a maxiflash to upgrade my 908 to a pro, would that come with a full year of updates.or would I need to buy that and also update for my 908?

If you buy a Maxiflash, it needs to be a brand new unit that has not been used already, it must be a virgin unit that has not been married yet.  If you are active in your subscription then it will become a pro until your subscription expires.  If you already expired then you will not get a update to pro, you will need to purchase a new pro subscription.

I just got mine in the mail Friday. I unpaired the old VCI and connected the MaxiFlash unit to my car to power it up properly, then it paired without issues.  I sent customer support an email so they would upgrade the unit. The email states,
"Congratulations! Your MaxiSys (S/N:V09G40103116) has been successfully upgraded to MaxiSys Pro.

The MaxiSys Pro system allows you to perform programming on many modern vehicles through the paired J2534 Programming Pass-Thru device. The vehicle coverage for the system will be extended with continuous updates.

Please be noted that once MaxiSys is upgraded to MaxiSys Pro, it will not be able to change back to the MaxiSys configuration again, and the software update fee will be adjusted accordingly after upgrading.

    Thank you!

I received the email this morning, and checked on this site immediately after. It does indeed state my unit is now a MaxiSYS Pro, but the update and warranty period hasn't changed.

So with the pro there is no vci like I have now, you hook up that pass through to connect to the cars?? And ya sounds like e mail states more cars will be added with updates not extended updates like you may have taken it. Fit the price it should have free updates at least 6 months. Where did you buy from? And if you don't mind hour much? Thanks

The J-box becomes the VCI. It's only slightly larger than the VCI itself. I purchased it on ebay from a seller named maxisys, for $799 and free shipping. There is also another seller named x-scanner, that sells it for the same deal. When you upgrade to the pro, you get updates that regular MaxiSYS don't receive, most likely just for the programing function.

The update period is decided by the MY908. Just mail the S/N of MY908 and new J2534 to support@autel.com, we will help you do the upgrade.

When is the updates coming for more programming capabilities in different manufacturers, that's what holding me back. But support started maxiflash needed for Ford pats model year 2014 and up correct? Support is that true? Even on models that don't need internet connection like f150,f250-350, some focus, some fusion, Taurus, expedition, edge, explorer.I work at Ford dealer so I just don't know why I need maxisys pro now to do normal pats function.
